Top 10 Sites That Will Matter in 2009
Here’s a good article predicting some of the up-and-comer web sites that are supposed to be popular in 2009.
I would particularly keep an eye on Loopt as follows the trend of adding a physical component to social networking. Case in point, though geotagging has been around for a while now, HTC is bringing their own version of it dubbed “Footprints” to their new Touch Cruise. It isn’t coming as an obscure application in a bloated menu in Windows Mobile but it’s coming with its own button! Sure, more savvy users would just remap their keys (using the PTT button on some phones for example) but placing a shortcut to the new program on the front of the phone really shows HTC’s enthusiasm.
More and more do we see a convergence of different technologies. I, for one, am hoping to be able to easily turn on and off user generated “Points of Interests” on my google maps and pull up geotagged pictures. Real time tweets from an extended network would be swell also.
Here’s to hoping that Windows Mobile 6.5/7 brings us back into the fold.
