Data Visualization and Web 2.0

A hobby that I have been trying to get into is design in information.  I have been looking at a way to incorporate dashboards into business reporting, or magazine-quality, one page reports that highlight the most important key performance indicators so that managers can quickly and more easily make decisions.  Think using organization and visualization to convert data to information.

Newsmap creates a treemap out of aggregated google news so that the user can quickly see which stories net users are most interested in.  Sites like the newsmap and Digg are growing with the ever increasing amount of information on the internet.  Using the same philosophy as dashboards, they filter out non-critical information so that you only get the most important stories.
